Privacy Policy

Effective Date: May 10, 2025

Overview

Brew Press is a small creative studio based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, making paper goods, zines, and handmade work for people who care about the craft. We’re not in the business of collecting your data — we’re in the business of making things worth keeping.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit brewpress.co, purchase from our shop, or get in touch with us, and how we handle it responsibly.

Short version: We collect only what we need to run the shop and fulfill your orders. We don’t sell your data. Ever.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect the following:

  • Order information — name, shipping address, email, and payment details when you make a purchase. Payment processing is handled by a third-party provider; we do not store your full card number.
  • Contact form submissions — your name, email address, and message when you reach out through our contact form.
  • Email address — if you subscribe to our mailing list or newsletter.
  • Technical data — browser type, IP address, referring URL, and pages visited, collected automatically via server logs and analytics tools.
  • Cookies — small files stored in your browser to keep your cart session active and understand how visitors use the site. See the Cookies section for details.

We do not collect sensitive personal information such as government ID, financial account numbers, or health data.

How We Use It

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Processing and fulfilling your orders, including sending shipping confirmations and tracking updates
  • Responding to questions, inquiries, or support requests
  • Sending occasional email updates, product announcements, or shop news — only if you’ve opted in
  • Improving site performance, diagnosing errors, and understanding what content resonates with visitors
  • Complying with legal obligations when required

We will never sell, rent, or trade your personal information to outside parties for marketing purposes.

Cookies

Our site uses cookies to keep things running smoothly. Cookies are small text files stored in your browser. We use them to:

  • Maintain your shopping cart session between pages
  • Remember your preferences (like currency or language, if applicable)
  • Understand aggregate traffic patterns through analytics (e.g., page views, session duration)

We do not use cookies to track your browsing activity across other websites or build advertising profiles. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some shop features may not function correctly without them.

Third Parties

We use a small set of trusted third-party services to operate the site and shop. These may have access to limited personal data only as required to perform their function:

  • Payment processors (e.g., Square, PayPal) — handle all payment transactions. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Shipping carriers (e.g., USPS, UPS) — receive your name and address to fulfill and deliver orders.
  • Email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp or similar) — used to send newsletters if you’ve opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time.
  • Analytics tools — used to understand site performance. Data is aggregated and anonymized where possible.
  • Hosting & infrastructure — our VPS and CDN providers process technical data as part of normal site operations.

All third-party services are contractually obligated to use your data only for the specific services they provide to us.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information. These include:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Deletion — request that we delete your personal data, subject to certain legal exceptions
  • Opt-out — unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send
  • Portability — request a portable copy of your data in a machine-readable format

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@brewpress.co. We’ll respond within 30 days.
